I wouldn't be surprised if this is at least partially accurate...

I don't believe this. Burrow has some pull for sure, but he doesnt have that kind of pull.Bengals1 wrote: ↑Tue Apr 21, 2026 11:18 amI wouldn't be surprised if this is at least partially accurate...

I'm going to give the front office their due on this one. They are going all in and I just pray it works out.
Re: Bengals trade for Dexter Lawrence. The Bengals.
I don't know about an ultimatum, but I do believe these recent off-season moves were prompted, at least in part, on showing Burrow they were serious about building a winning team around him.
Re: Bengals trade for Dexter Lawrence. The Bengals.
It's ok for both of these things to be true. I don't think it should surprise anybody that Burrow would be voicing his opinion about what the team needs to do and it shouldn't surprise anybody that the front office would at least listen to their bell cow even if they are only taking it into consideration.MeatHeadbengal wrote: ↑Tue Apr 21, 2026 12:02 pmI don't believe this. Based on Tweets from BJ Hill, Tee Higgins, and Jamar Chase, it's clear that they knew this was a possibility before the day of the trade. They were all hinting toward something. I think as a team, they were working together through Joe to try and help persuade the front office.
Having said that, I do also give the front office credit. They did what needed to be done to try and turn this team into a Super Bowl team right now rather than drafting another player in the first round that may or may not help for another year or two. The Browns didn't have to do anything, but they did. If this team can stay relatively healthy, I don't think there is any team we can't beat. This offense will score the points. We just need a defense that is at least somewhat better than last year. I keep saying, we can win a Super Bowl with even an average defense because our offense can put up the points needed. We just can't have record setting bad defenses on the other side of the ball.
Re: Bengals trade for Dexter Lawrence. The Bengals.
Barring injury, I don't see how this defense can't help but be noticeably improved from last year.
I watched Colin Cowherd and his co-host Jason McIntyre discuss the Dexter Lawrence trade this morning on his show.
McIntyre didn't like it. He felt "just" getting Lawrence wasn't near enough to help such an awful Bengals defense.
Cowherd pushed back citing how out of character this was for the Browns and applauding their willingness to try something.....anything, to win now.
The entire conversation revolved around the Lawrence trade. Neither of them even mentioned any of the other free agents we signed this offseason. Not one.
Three new veteran D-linemen, two vetern Safeties and we still have eight picks to get more.
How can it not be a significant improvement over last year....?

We're getting ready to go to war in the AFC. Facts!
I was crazy back when being crazy really meant something.

Cincinnati Bengals
I’d also tell you not to be surprised if the Dexter Lawrence II trade winds up being a precursor to the Bengals being more aggressive moving around the board this weekend.
Cincinnati’s generally been one of the most conservative teams in football with draft trades—and it’s actually now been three years since they last did a deal to move up or down at any point in the draft (they made just two trades involving picks over that period, and both were for veteran players, shipping off Joe Mixon and bringing in Khalil Herbert in 2024). The Bengals have seven picks heading in. We’ll see what happens.

I don’t believe a single thing national talking heads say about the bengals. They pay us no real attention
But…it is odd we haven’t heard burrow comment on the trade…
