Re: Bengals trade for Dexter Lawrence. The Bengals.
We just witnessed history and if you don’t love this you are high. This is the most win now move the org has ever done. Instead of waiting for the draft to fall and taking a 3rd CB who’s coming off an ACL so they don’t have to pay one of their starters, they traded for the 2-3 best DT in the league who far and away is the best pass rushing DT of the last 4 years. Just a monster move
Now they can take a Jacob Rodriguez LB at 41 and still add a decent vet which would make this the greatest FA period in team history.

honestly... i'm stunned... they must've had at least an inkling of what it would take for a long term deal

Woke up to this?!?!!?
Wow. I'm super excited. Getting a KNOWN and PROVEN player. And we're gonna extend him. I'm back on the band wagon

Schefter: Compensation update: Now that he has passed his physical and the trade is official, newly-acquired DT Dexter Lawerence is signing a one-year, $28 million contract extension with the Bengals, per @WinSportsGroup
He is under contract for 2 years, and now one additional year with this extension. 3 years total.

Much better than I expected. Takes him to 31 years old which is pushing the point of fall off but a DT typically have a longer NFL life than most positions. So looks like his cap hit will be 20M, 22M and 28M so if can play up to level he has been that is a real bargain. Giants have 14M cap hit this year for him not playing for them.Bengals1 wrote: ↑Sun Apr 19, 2026 11:29 amSchefter: Compensation update: Now that he has passed his physical and the trade is official, newly-acquired DT Dexter Lawerence is signing a one-year, $28 million contract extension with the Bengals, per @WinSportsGroup

think this is a really good deal for the Bengals...

Hayden Winks @HaydenWinks
Dexter Lawrence contract with Bengals will be 3-for-70 ($23.3M/year). That is below market and team friendly.
There are 9 DTs making more per year, and Chris Jones is at $31.7M per year as an older player.

This is the 3 year window. If they don't win within this window now expect a roster blow up and start the process all over again. Probably without Burrow.Bengals1 wrote: ↑Sun Apr 19, 2026 11:29 amSchefter: Compensation update: Now that he has passed his physical and the trade is official, newly-acquired DT Dexter Lawerence is signing a one-year, $28 million contract extension with the Bengals, per @WinSportsGroup

I really do hope thos pays off. I'm skeptical but optimistic with this move.
