Free Agent Tracker
Re: Free Agent Tracker
Well, we've got our replacement for Jake Browning...
Adam Schefter @AdamSchefter
Bengals signed veteran QB Josh Johnson, who returns to Cincinnati for a team he played for during the 2013 season.
Paul Dehner Jr. @pauldehnerjr
Josh Johnson is the exact mold of backup you bring in to serve as a placeholder in hopes of bringing back Joe Flacco.
Veteran who has done it all, can run any offense, knows the league, fills the spot ... but if/when Flacco says yes to the #Bengals, Johnson steps aside.

Tom Pelissero @TomPelissero
Former Bengals CB Cam Taylor-Britt is expected to sign with the Colts, per source. He visited today and now is set for a reunion with DC Lou Anarumo.

What went right, what went wrong? Bengals free agency deep dive...
https://www.cincinnati.com/story/sports ... 97854007/
Key Takeaways
• Bengals want to extend both Dax Hill and DJ Turner, but no negotiations have started yet.
• Team plans to address CB in the draft, not free agency
• Linebacker was not a priority in early free agency and internally prioritized DE and S over LB.
• They weren’t actually interested in Jennings and Chaisson or other commonly linked names
• Leo Chenal lost interest after other defensive moves, specifically the Mafe signing.
• Them missing out on LB was intentional as opposed to them dropping the ball, specifically because how they prioritized early FA.
• Bengals explored a trade with Dallas for Osa Odighizuwa but refused to give up a draft pick, which ultimately killed the deal.

Re: Free Agent Tracker
With two 6s and two 7s, I'd still like to see them grab a young developmental QB with an eye towards the future.
Re: Free Agent Tracker
I was really hoping they could find someone better and not near as old. He was 2-8 as a starter last year and 2-4 the year before and is now only older on top of that he was only a good QB for one post season run other than that he was average at best.

Re: Free Agent Tracker
He wasn't the reason we we're 2-8 with him under center and you know that! He should have been 4-6 at the very least, maybe even better if our defense wasn't just atrocious!
Re: Free Agent Tracker
He was 1-5 with Bengals and yes, the D was a big reason, but he was also 1-3 with the Browns that has maybe the best D in the league. Also at his age can't expect him to play more than a couple games without getting hurt again.MeatHeadbengal wrote: ↑Tue Mar 24, 2026 11:41 pmHe wasn't the reason we we're 2-8 with him under center and you know that! Re: Free Agent Tracker
We were not going to find a backup who would play better than Flacco played for us last year. Whether he can duplicate that if we need him to remains to be seen, and hopefully won't need to be seen. I'll take my chances though.
