The dude has a point, and I 100% agree with him! The Bengals are F'ing around and their about to find out!Bengals1 wrote: ↑Tue Jun 10, 2025 3:17 pmSeriously guys, what is wrong with this club.....?
Football Forever @fballforeverhq
DE Shemar Stewart called out the team for the way they’ve handled his & Trey Hendrickson’s contract disputes
“I’m 100% right. I’m not asking for nothing [the Bengals] have never done before. But in y’all case, y’all just want to win arguments [more] than winning more games.
Reminder:
Shemar Stewart just wants a contract that Amarius Mims (and every other 1st rounder) got where there’s no “default clause” that can void his future guaranteed money.
He just wants what is normal for a rookie deal.

Shemar Stewart has every right to voice his displeasure with this situation. I get it.
My advice would have been to not say anything rather than air grievances today at the team you will be playing for the next four/five years.
But, he's also a 21-year-old who never could have seen something like this coming.
Remarkable it has escalated to this level

My understanding from everything I've read, is that other teams have added similar clauses to the contracts they're offering their first round picks.MeatHeadbengal wrote: ↑Tue Jun 10, 2025 8:17 pmThe dude has a point, and I 100% agree with him! The difference is that these other teams have compensated their picks with excellerated bonus schedules and adjusted guaranteed monies.
The Bengals, true to form, want Stewart to sign a contract that only includes the voided years for off-field misbehavior or injuries occurring during prohibited activities. (Such as playing pickup basketball or dirt bike riding, etc...)
Injuries incurred during normal daily activities such as car accidents or falling down stairs would not void the contract.
Apparently, the Bengals have been trying to include this language for several years now but this is the first time they've put their foot down and refused to omit it.
At least other teams have compensated their players with additional incentives or inventive bonuses where the Bengals refuse to sweeten the language to get a quick signing.
Typical.

The most significant problem with the Shemar Stewart situation goes well beyond contract language and waivers.
This is about the constant battle between players and the front office.
And the #Bengals have long ago lost the benefit of the doubt.

Former Bengals LB Germaine Pratt is signing a 1-year deal worth up to $4.78M with the Raiders, per sources. Pratt started all 17 games last season and is coming off a career-high 143 tackles to go along with 2 INTs, 2 forced fumbles and 2 fumble recoveries.

Cincinnati’s unsigned first-round draft pick Shemar Stewart now has left mandatory minicamp, per source. Stewart had been attending team activities, but without a signed contract and with the Bengals asking for certain clauses, no longer.
Jay Morrison @ByJayMorrison
For context, mandatory minicamp ends - and summer break begins - after practice is over at 10 am.
There are no significant post-practice meetings or anything he would be missing.
Announcing his departure is just a further statement on his frustration, that’s all.
