I'm voting on a sit or trade scenario developing. Other teams will gladly overpay for Trey. And I think the milk has been left out of the fridge a bit too long here. Its about to spoil.4256 Hits wrote: ↑Mon May 12, 2025 9:27 pmI agree he will play for the Bengals this coming season. And he sounds a bit pissed. And rightly so.
Squeeze play underway here. And it will likely end up with Trey playing elsewhere this year once he finally digs in against Katie.

You’ve got Treys of our lives drama and news that the Bengals haven’t signed Shemar because they’re too incompetent to sign someone in a slot that essentially is a predetermined contract.
I mean, why would you want your developmental first rounder to be at rookie camp?
My goodness I loathe this organization sometimes

According to several sports reporters on X, the Shemar Stewart contract is being held up due to disagreements on bonus structure, specifically individual vs team bonuses.
Stewart and his agent are objecting to the number of bonuses that are more team oriented vs individual achievements. In other words, Stewart wants more money for achieving individual goals like number of sacks, snaps played, etc... while the Bengals prefer more team goals like total number of wins, getting to the play-offs, etc...
Hendrickson's contract is being held up for the same reason I've read.

Asked by Paul Dehner Jr if he envisions any scenario where he plays this year in his current deal, Trey Hendrickson said “no”
Trey Hendrickson said there are unprovoked shark attacks and provoked ones.
He said his statement yesterday and the session today were "provoked" by Katie Blackburn's comments at the owners' meetings and Zac Taylor's text informing him he would be fined for skipping minicamp.
Hendrickson also said he has no issue with Ja'Marr and Tee getting their deals before him.
"I love those guys. I want every player on this team to get their value. They have the best quarterback on the planet to spin the ball, so I'd prioritize receivers myself. It is almost like building a fantasy dynasty."
Paul Dehner Jr. @pauldehnerjr
Trey Hendrickson just spent 25 minutes with us and had a lot to say and didn’t hold back. The word “disappointed” was used often.
Said his statements have been “provoked.”
Asked explicitly if he will play on the current deal: “No.”
Stay tuned, much more to come.

Told ya! He ain't playin' and he isnt your average 31 year old lineman. Even at 80% Trey is more productive than half the DEs in the league. He's got at least a couple of good years left. And in the right scheme and situation, maybe more. This is getting ready to be another Big Whit shit show.

Trey maybe you shouldn't have signed the contract and taken the signing bonus that came along with it just 2 years ago if didn't want to play for the Bengals in 2025.Bengals1 wrote: ↑Tue May 13, 2025 2:15 pmJay Morrison @ByJayMorrison

I'm disappointed but not overly surprised. I thought they'd at least handle this professionally.
Instead....same ole Bungles.
Re: Bengals Related News & Notes
The exact same could be said about Geno Atkins before the start of 2020 season that he "isn't your average 31 year old lineman. He had a monster year at age 30 just like Trey just did. Then look what happen. That is a lot of cap space for very little production and in the early 2020's they fortunately didn't have QB and 2 WR taking up over 1/3 of the entire salary cap and could absorb it better.stripesincarolina wrote: ↑Tue May 13, 2025 4:24 pmTold ya! Age 30 - 10 sacks, 45 tackles, 13 TFL, 19 QB hits 16 games played 15.1 million.
Age 31 - 4.5 sacks, 47 tackles, 4 TFL, 10 QB hits 16 games played 14.6 million cap hit.
Age 32 - 0.0 sacks, 1 tackle, 0 TFL, 1 QB hit 8 games played, 14.1 million cap hit.
Age 33 - Out of the league and 5.2 million cap hit.
Father time is undefeated.
Re: Bengals Related News & Notes
I don't blame the Bengals one bit on this. They signed him though his expected high end playing days and he agreed to the deal that was offered by them.Bengals1 wrote: ↑Tue May 13, 2025 5:06 pmYep.stripesincarolina wrote: ↑Tue May 13, 2025 4:24 pmTold ya! Paying old defensive players a lot of money is typically a bad move. The Bills contract they gave Von Miller very likely cost them a super bowl or two. Just think about over the last 3 years if they didn't have a cap hit 28 million and another 15.5 million next year when not even on the roster what player(s) they could have signed to help them win.
