Re: Bengals Related News & Notes
hope these numbers are right.
Zac Taylor without Burrow: 4-28-1
With Burrow: 29-25-1
huge difference.
i am not convinced Taylor deserves to be a HC in the NFL.

What I was saying earlier. Rookie qbs kill us. So do good TEs, we'll while I'm at it so does Burrow when it's 3rd and longer than 4 yards. ....skycruiser wrote: ↑Tue Sep 24, 2024 3:52 pmThe #Bengals are 3-9 in their last 12 games against rookie starting quarterbacks:

Re: Bengals Related News & Notes
Basically we have to do better (no, not in my Marvin Lewis voice), but overall. We have to stop being content and saying we can compete with what we have knowing we probably can't due to other teams getting better each year and taking risks with trades and or moving up in draft, etc.
We have to draft better. I'm ok semi defensively where we have drafted decent. But we can't whiff on olineman year after year and on dts, ends, corners and safeties.
We need to find a way to keep the best players we develop. We can't just allow them to walk and settle for a 4th rounder and then draft a cam sample, or a Mitchell Wilcox. We can't "trade" a Bates for a Drew Sample. At the end of the day realistically we're trading a developed high stake corner piece first rounder for a back up or practice squad player. That's not gelling and it's not making this team better year after year.
Do better! Draft better! Trade when needed! Let's play this game of chess instead of checkers!
I'm not mad or aggravated. I had a gut feeling early on this year we didn't do "enough" to compete with the big name teams. But I thought we did enough to beat Washington lol. We are seriously looking at finishing dead last in our division! That means Pittsburg and Cleveland will finish ahead of us and we have Burrow, Higgins, Chase, Wilson, Pratt and a few other great players. We'll, I guess with 5 or 6 great players the rest are mediocre at best. Again. Why we are last fight now. We cannot afford to whiff on first and second rounders! No more Carmen's and or Murphys! They say mannnn hi build your team in the later rounds. FUCK THAT. you build your team early in the draft!!
Example. We didn't need 10.or so draft picks this year. Trade up for someone that'll help instead of drafting some bum that'll be cut or practice squad!

I undertand where you're coming from here Joseph, I really do. I'm sure most of us here on the board (and elsewhere in Bengaldom) do too. We all feel the pain. ( We just don't all take it out on a babysitter.Joe Bananas wrote: ↑Tue Sep 24, 2024 4:40 pmBasically we have to do better (no, not in my Marvin Lewis voice), but overall. An old friend of mine used to have a saying, Do something....even if its wrong! He couldn't stand indecision and he was basically telling us try something....anything, it might work.
I'm not sure its always that easy, especially when it comes to building an NFL roster. For instance, in the case for trading Higgins. You have to have a trade partner. Somebody not only has to have a DT they're willing to give up but also the cap space to pay Higgins what he's asking for. Who do you suggest?
When it comes to drafting, you may have a need for a player at a particular position but there has to be a player at that position to draft or trade up for. Just because the Bengals may go into the 2025 draft needing a DT doesn't mean there's going to be one just sitting there, whether they try to move up or not. This kind of situation leads teams to reach for QB's when there really isn't a great QB on the board. How many teams have set themselves back years reaching for a QB and building their team around him only to see him fail because he was never that good to begin with? (Tim Couch, Ryan Leaf, Heath Shuler, JaMarcus Russell. I could go on but you get the picture)
A lot of people felt when Katie took over much of the teams daily operations from her father things would change. I never bought into that scenario. Mike Brown is a cheapskate largely because his father was and that's where he learned it. Who do you think Katie's been watching all these years..?
The apple doesn't fall far from the tree. She may bring a slightly more modern approach to the job but she's still her father's daughter.
The Bengals are not going to suddenly do a 180 and start throwing money at defensive players. They're not going to suddenly value Guards and Safeties. They're not going to make huge splashes in Free Agency or begin trading 4 players to move up a round or two. Its just not the Bengal way.
Sam Wyche was right, you don't live in Cleveland....you live in Cincinnati! and this is the team you've chosen to root for, warts and all. Its like getting mad at your cat for eating a mouse or getting mad at Meathead for finishing off all the ribs without asking anyone if they wanted more. These are your Cincinnati Bengals and in the immortal words of Super Chicken - You knew the job was dangerous when you took it.
Sit back and try not to let it get to you. Go into the season trying not to expect much and you won't be so disappointed. God knows this philosophy has worked for Mrs. Stripes for years.
If she can do it - you can do it. I have faith.

I'm all for signing Tee. I've said a thousand times and I'll say it again. Chase isn't his best without Tee and vice versa. Have to seen how Burrow struggles without them both? Next season is not going to be pretty if we don't find a similar replacement to Tee. Chase will sit out if a deal isn't done, you can take that to the bank! And we'll get some more comp picks and have 12 more draft picks we don't need instead of trading some to move up.Bengals1 wrote: ↑Tue Sep 24, 2024 7:17 pmI undertand where you're coming from here Joseph, I really do. Anyone who watches college football knows Carman wasn't a good pick nor was Murphy. I have no fn clue shy the team thought they were worthy of them spots. Basically the picks like that re the reason we aren't getting over the hump. When you don't draft we'll, and let Bates, Dj ans now Tee walk and we get 3 Taylor May's we gonna fn suck and suck bad.

Jury is still out on Murphy, he's flashed and has a really great motor so I'm not giving up on him yet. Also drafting isn't that easy, if it was there wouldn't be so many busts every year.Joe Bananas wrote: ↑Tue Sep 24, 2024 8:19 pmAnyone who watches college football knows Carman wasn't a good pick nor was Murphy. I'm with you on the Bates thing however we didn't know about DJ, and frankly I'm not sold on Tee, and I'd let him walk quality trench players.

i would call trey hendrickson and ask him how much money he wants for 2 more years and then pay him doubleMeatHeadbengal wrote: ↑Tue Sep 24, 2024 8:57 pmJury is still out on Murphy, he's flashed and has a really great motor so I'm not giving up on him yet. To me this year it already it looks like is level of play is going down. Three years from now it is likely it will a below average player. Take what you can get from him this year and next and then wish him good luck. Bills have found out how dumb it is to pay big money to an old defensive player.skycruiser wrote: ↑Wed Sep 25, 2024 8:22 ami would call trey hendrickson and ask him how much money he wants for 2 more years and then pay him doubleMeatHeadbengal wrote: ↑Tue Sep 24, 2024 8:57 pmJury is still out on Murphy, he's flashed and has a really great motor so I'm not giving up on him yet. Shannon Sharpe
"When did the Bengals start talking for a team that hasn't won anything? Shut up, win something!"
Not that this means anything but I do think it speaks volumes. I do think this should be Joe Bs team and I do think he needs to demand the players to get back to the basics man. I didn't like it when Chad ran his mouth for 10 fn seasons. Cam Brit and others, I agree with Sharpe, shut up! Play ball. Keep your head down and let's get back to the fundamentals! I blame Joe B if this isn't done. With his game, savvy, resume, and the money we paying him, plus a once in a generation qb to be playing for the Bengals, he needs to be the only fn leader we have. The only fn one who can say anything! I'm sick and tired of hearing bullshit and not seeing it on the field and it only been 3 games! Play some football and let's go! Allow Joe B to be the quit assassin for this team. Lead the way in victories not locker room bullshit.
