I'm not sure this link will work but I found these facts very interesting on Bengals spending!

Since 2016 the Bengals are 6th in overall spending, so this narrative they are cheap is kind of debunked.

NFL Dot Com is saying bengals are also going to be players in upper to mid level free agents as well. I don't buy it. I'll believe it when I see it.
What one team is willing to give a top FA 12 million a year and the bengals offering that same player 2.5 million a year doesn't make them players, it makes them cheap.
I can see better than I can read.

Since 2016 the Bengals are 6th in spending so they aren't being cheap, they are just using the money to keep their own guys. I just think they've let some guys go they shouldn't have which makes it appear they are being cheap. They aren't going to over pay on FA's which isn't necessarily a bad thing either. So again this narrative of them being cheap is debunked!Joe Bananas wrote: ↑Tue Mar 03, 2020 4:58 pmNFL Dot Com is saying bengals are also going to be players in upper to mid level free agents as well. SoPs philosophy is that if the team that drafted you and coached you up for the past 4-5 years doesn't want to pay you top dollar why would he?
That's why the Bungles are so willing to re-up their own players with top dollar contracts. They drafted them - they coached them over the past few years and so in their minds they know what they're worth.
SoP simply doesn't trust a player he didn't draft himself and therefore, he's extremely reluctant to offer that player a high money contract especially since most of those contracts come with multiple years as well.

And.....offering a guy 3 million a year when the other 99% of the nfl is offering him 12 million is considered cheap. Sorry Charlie. I don't buy none of the shit about them being active with high end free agents.MeatHeadbengal wrote: ↑Tue Mar 03, 2020 5:06 pmSince 2016 the Bengals are 6th in spending so they aren't being cheap, they are just using the money to keep their own guys. I understand what you're saying and the only reason SoP is spending money is because he has too or be fined of he doesn't spend a certain percent of the leagues FA money. If it were up to him he pocket 199 million of the salary cap and offer 1 million for 10 years to a guy like Joe Thomas or Vince Wilfork.

That's just BS Joe, since 2016 he's spend the 6th most, that's not the league minimum! Just because we aren't going out and spending stupid amounts of money on one FA (Your top FA) doesn't mean he's not doing the right thing. We all know that FA isn't a way to build a franchise, and it's been proven over and over again aka Redskins.Joe Bananas wrote: ↑Tue Mar 03, 2020 7:12 pmAnd.....offering a guy 3 million a year when the other 99% of the nfl is offering him 12 million is considered cheap. Again I think he's missed on some guys like Whit but those are the ones that just stick in our heads. This data shows that it's just the narrative is hype and the Bengals keep on par with the rest of the league when it comes to spending!
Re: Bengals Related News & Notes
The point you and Joe are debating is addressed in my post above. Joe is talking about spending on Free Agents....specifically. You're talking about team spending overall where the Bungles are right with the rest of the league.MeatHeadbengal wrote: ↑Tue Mar 03, 2020 9:29 pmThis data shows that it's just the narrative is hype and the Bengals keep on par with the rest of the league when it comes to spending!
SoP spends....on his own players. He does not spend much on Free Agents.
Now its past both you're bedtimes....go to sleep!
Re: Bengals Related News & Notes
While they are competitive in overall spending, they're 30th in guaranteed money. That's where they have issues.

Re: Bengals Related News & Notes
You can nit pick all you want on where they are with FA's or guaranteed, but in the end of the day their sending is on par with the rest of the league. So the narrative that has been created about soP being cheap but it's not on players salaries.
Re: Bengals Related News & Notes
Right. He's not cheap on the players, he's cheap on everything else--scouting department, hiring a real GM, indoor practice facility. I bet Mikey doesn't even pay someone to film the other team's sideline and deflate the balls. CHEAP!MeatHeadbengal wrote: ↑Wed Mar 04, 2020 8:19 amYou can nit pick all you want on where they are with FA's or guaranteed, but in the end of the day their sending is on par with the rest of the league.
