Where's he going?

The Athletic (@TheAthletic)
Saints head coach Sean Payton is stepping away, according to multiple reports.

A press conference will be held this afternoon, per our own @Kat_Terrell.

Payton spent 15 seasons in New Orleans during a tenure that included a Super Bowl title in 2010.

As long as it's not here I'm good.

I would take Marvin back here as a DC if ours gets a HC job somewhere. Marv was a great DC.

No thanks. You said it accurately. Marvin "was" a great DC. Marvin should not be anywhere near this organization again. Curses have been broken. Time continuums have shifted. Seas have been parted.

I physically could not stomach having Marvin back in the fold.

My feelings aside, he has no interest in coaching in the NFL again and I believe he has said as much in numerous interviews. He's living large playing golf and hosting BBQs in Hilton Head.
You guys are going go be severely disappointed at the team they've put together this year. Severely disappointed. - Joe Bananas 8/18/2025

Let's not forget that if not for Marvin, Mike would be running the team like it was 1980. Marvin helped change the culture of how Brown ran the entire organization. Although most is still family. There's a lot of outside people in the organization since Marvin came along. I give him credit for being stubborn. It was rumored that he was going to be offered a front office position. But, he insisted and was convinced this team could win with him at the helm. Mike Brown apparently didn't have the same vision.
