I can't pick on poor Stripey all the time....MeatHeadbengal wrote: ↑Thu Apr 08, 2021 8:42 amWe all know this isn't true... I was the one that motivated Gio to grow that manstash... Just saying!![]()

Not really only 1 time in last 5 years has he averaged over 4 yards a carry. Last three were 3.8, 3.2 and 3.4 last year. He was a good blocker and receiver out of the backfield, rarely fumbled the ball and for the most part was able to stay healthy. Good guy that was good to have on the team and made millions but his time has passed as a NFL running back.stripesincarolina wrote: ↑Thu Apr 08, 2021 8:00 am
Gio was completely underutilized IMO. He had so much more to offer as a weapon. We wasted him as a blocker.

I think we are sort of agreeing here and saying the same thing. I don't care about his AYPC when he was constantly blocking and otherwise under assault just like our QB's behind terrible lines. He was a phenom in the open field and our schemes did very little to use him on play action in that regard. I'm just saying we could have schemed him to success so much better than what we did.4256 Hits wrote: ↑Thu Apr 08, 2021 9:39 amNot really only 1 time in last 5 years has he averaged over 4 yards a carry. You guys are going go be severely disappointed at the team they've put together this year. Severely disappointed. - Joe Bananas 8/18/2025

Personally I think what the Bengals did here was wrong, and they did Gio dirty here. What did they benefit by cutting him now that they didn't benefit from cutting him earlier so he could have taken advantage of a full FA period. Now teams have either addressed their needs or they are looking forward to the draft. I wish this franchise wasn't A-holes to players that did them right by fans eyes.
Re: Bengals Related News & Notes
Apparently the team originally asked him to take a pay cut to help reduce his cap hit. It was these negotiations, which ultimately proved futile, that took weeks and ended up with his release so late in the free agency period.MeatHeadbengal wrote: ↑Thu Apr 08, 2021 2:01 pmPersonally I think what the Bengals did here was wrong, and they did Gio dirty here. Whatever the Hell that means.....
More info#Bengals hire Louie Cioffi as defensive quality control coach.
#NFL #NFLTwitter #NFLRumors
The Bengals are bringing back a former member of their coaching staff in a new role.
Louie Cioffi has been hired as a defensive quality control coach. Cioffi was on the team’s staff from 1997 to 2010 and served as a defensive assistant and defensive backs coach during his first stint in Cincinnati.
Cioffi’s most recent coaching experience came in the AAF and XFL as he worked in both of the short-lived spring football leagues.
He has also been the defensive coordinator at Southeastern Louisiana and the defensive backs coach for the Browns (on two occasions), Titans, and Cardinals since leaving the Bengals.
