After seeing the highlights from that game it really looks like he needs to retire (Ben). He just isnt moving like he used to and his arm has lost some zip. Could he play another year, sure. But I dont think he has any major records to break and why put your body thru that?
If he stays he's going to be a tremendous cap hit for them next season. He could agree to modify his contract but that's about the only way they can afford him.

For years I would watch the draft and wonder why Pittsburgh wasn't drafting a back-up in the middle rounds. Jen hadn't played all 16 games in like 3 years. Yet year after year they'd eschew quarterbacks just sitting there and take another Linebacker or Safety etc...

Now they're going to pay the price for it....
If he stays, he will account for $41.25 mil towards the salary cap. His contract has already been restructured a number of times moving a large portion of the salary cap hit to 2021. They would save about 19 mil by cutting him but they are projected to be about 20 mil over the salary cap with him so they don't have a lot of wiggle room.

There are some nice "bridge" type QBs that they could bring in to give them a year. Someone like Cam Newton, Winston, God forbid Dalton, or Hell, even Mitch Trubisky had a higher QBR on the season that Ben did and none of them would cost a ton. I'm not saying all these guys would be better than Ben but they would certainly be cheaper.

There's a lot of QBs in this year's draft though so I'd imagine there will be somebody drafted whether he's the 2021 starter or not.

Fire Zak now and then hire Pederson.
After speaking with two people close to former #Eagles coach Doug Pederson, it sounds like this is what it boiled down: Pederson was sick of people telling him what to do.
Yeah, that sounds like Mike Brown's kind of coach....
Oh I acknowledged there is zero chance of it happening.

Former national-title winning coach Urban Meyer is working toward finalizing a deal to be the next coach with the #Jaguars, per me and @TomPelissero. The deal is expected to be done soon.

I just hope he doesn't plunder the OSU coaching staff. Well......he can have that defensive coordinator. :x

Word is he is smartly going after NFL experience guys and wants at least 1 former NFL head coach on his staff. Wonder if he wants Zak Taylor?

Browns more than convincingly walk into the AFC semi-final game. It seriously pisses me off that we came within a busted tackle of beating the Stains BOTH games this year. What could have been if SoP and Zac had just taken care of the Oline issues in the 2020 offseason.

Looking ahead to todays game its clear the Browns have momentum and the Chiefs, while the record doesnt show it, have a lot of question marks and close wins. I'll take the Chiefs at home, but the Bills kind of have that destiny look going on right now so I'm riding the Bills to the Superbowl. Great story up there.

Looks like Bills-Packers to me unless Brady and the Bucs really pull it together today.
You guys are going go be severely disappointed at the team they've put together this year. Severely disappointed. - Joe Bananas 8/18/2025

The #Chargers are hiring #Rams DC Brandon Staley as their new head coach, sources tell me and @TomPelissero. An impressive young candidate, he gets a prime job in LA.
