#Vikings first-round QB JJ McCarthy underwent a full meniscus repair this morning and is out for the 2024 season, sources tell me and @TomPelissero.
The repair, done by Dr. Chris Larson at Twin Cities Orthopedics, gives McCarthy the best chance at a long, successful career as a douchebag.

Hopefully, this will spur the Bengals and Chase to finalize their deal...

The #Cowboys and All-Pro WR CeeDee Lamb agreed on a massive 4-year extension worth $136M, per me and
@TomPelissero.
Lamb gets $100M guaranteed and a WR-record $38M signing bonus in a deal done by Tory Dandy of CAA. He’s the 2nd highest paid non-QB in NFL history.

I am sure I am in the minority, but I don't want to see the Bengals tie up that much cap space in Chase. Top end WR are not that hard to find and the time they are at the top end for most is relatively short. Maybe the best thing the Bengals franchise has done in its history is draft WR. They can find the next big time WR if needed.Bengals1 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 26, 2024 2:52 pmHopefully, this will spur the Bengals and Chase to finalize their deal...![]()

I'm on the fence on this one, I want to see Chase stay simply because I think he's one of the top 2 WR's in this league and that's not easy replaced. We should keep one of the 2 top WR's we have and I feel like Chase is the guy we should keep. However I don't like the amount of money Chase is going to command, and his hold-in this pre-season. I do not think we can just go out and draft a Chase again you have to remember we did draft John Ross!4256 Hits wrote: ↑Mon Aug 26, 2024 10:55 pmI am sure I am in the minority, but I don't want to see the Bengals tie up that much cap space in Chase. Re: NFL News & Notes
Hypothetical here.....if we had 8 games of data on Burton and he looked every bit as good as he has been thus far, I think I would rather pay Higgins and trade Chase for massive 2025 draft capital. I'm just not that worried about our WR corps in a possession offense. Sure we love the occasional bomb and breakaway TD that Chase delivers. But Burton has soooo much potential (so far). I do think Mikey is stuck because of the LSU bromance in place. Joe would be pissed, but it is inevitable at some point those two will play on different teams.
No matter, this WR market is definitely out of control.

You guys are going go be severely disappointed at the team they've put together this year. Severely disappointed. - Joe Bananas 8/18/2025
Re: NFL News & Notes
I agree it is very unlikely will draft another Chase as there are not many that good but look at what KC did after Hill when you have an elite QB maybe a team doesn't need an elite WR. Also just because John Ross was a bust it doesn't take away from the rest of the long history of great Bengals WR draft picks all the way back to Curtis and Collingsworth. When was the last time the Bengals didn't have a very good or better WR? I can't think of one. Went for Picken to Johnson to Green to Chase and many good #2 WR along the way.MeatHeadbengal wrote: ↑Tue Aug 27, 2024 6:34 amI'm on the fence on this one, I want to see Chase stay simply because I think he's one of the top 2 WR's in this league and that's not easy replaced. Overall I just think teams right now are overpaying for WR when you look around the league there is quite a few superstar WR. I would still rather spend my cap space on QB, OL, DL and DB.
