NFL News & Notes
Re: NFL News & Notes
Just saw this posted on Twitter for Dexter Lawrence's "down year" in 2025.
Stats for the Giants defense when Lawrence is on the field vs when he is not on the field:
OFF field:
#32 YPA (8.4)
#31 sack rate (4.1%)
#27 EPA/pass (+0.13)
#26 pass success (47%)
#23 pressure rate (32%)
ON field:
#7 pass success (40%)
#8 YPA (6.6)
#9 sack rate (7.7%)
#10 EPA/pass (+0.09)
#22 pressure rate (33%)
The Giants had a terrible defense. We could certainly use that kind of production in our terrible defense.

Those are crazy that the stats are that different for one player particularly one that in all areas had minimal at best stats himself. I first thought maybe with him off the field was just due to small sample size but he only played in 68% of D snaps. I wonder if he went off with another player most times? That seems doubtful but clearly the player taking his place had to have been terrible for the D for fall off that much.Jmble wrote: ↑Tue Apr 07, 2026 2:05 pmJust saw this posted on Twitter for Dexter Lawrence's "down year" in 2025.

That would help fix our defense, and this is exactly why we won't do it!Jmble wrote: ↑Tue Apr 07, 2026 2:05 pmJust saw this posted on Twitter for Dexter Lawrence's "down year" in 2025.

No, we won't do it because the Browns are more concerned about the bottom line than winning.MeatHeadbengal wrote: ↑Tue Apr 07, 2026 9:00 pmThat would help fix our defense, and this is exactly why we won't do it!
We'd have to trade our first round pick plus other later picks to aquire him. Then, we have to meet his salary demands. Those picks we'd have to trade away will all be on rookie contracts for the next four years.
The accumulation of those picks contracts won't come close to what Lawrence will demand.
Cheaper rookies vs expensive veteran. Who do you think the Browns will choose...?

[Pelissero] Former Bengals DE Cam Sample agreed to a one-year deal with the 49ers, per source.

Adam Schefter @AdamSchefter
Sources: Aaron Rodgers and the Steelers now have reached agreement on a one-year deal. Rodgers officially is reuniting with the Steelers and their new head coach Mike McCarthy for the 2026 season.
