The rumor is that the Bengals want a clause that voids the future years on his contract if he messes up off-the-field (e.g. Jermaine Burton). The standard contract right now will void the current year's contract guarantees, but the Bengals want an extra "out" for future years too.

It's silly. We picked a raw project player and we're missing out on valuable time getting him experience because we're paranoid about ever having to pay a player more than we absolutely have to.
