Panthers trade Christian McCafferty to the 49'ers for draft picks. McCafferty is the second Panther offensive player traded in as many weeks.
A bunch of draft picks apparently....
In return, the Panthers received a second, third, and fourth-round pick in 2023 and a fifth-round pick in 2024, according to multiple reports.
Allows them to draft QB1 and rebuild the entire team around him. I hate to see a team literally tank, but it happens, and the Panthers are very well positioned for success in 2-3 years.
So you have to imagine they have a QB1 already targeted. Who's coming out next year that's really worth QB1?

Pretty much just CJ Stroud and Bryce Young. The Baker Mayfield era is over. They will keep Sam Darnold. Definitely in a pickle.
You guys are going go be severely disappointed at the team they've put together this year. Severely disappointed. - Joe Bananas 8/18/2025

First of all, the Panthers need to find their next head coach first.

7 weeks in I think its a safe bet to say the AFC has lost the Patriots, Texans, Broncos, Raiders, Steelers and Browns from the playoff race. None of these teams really show the ability to make a run strong enough to get to 10-7 with their remaining schedules.
Thats 6 teams gone. 7 teams make the playoffs. That leaves 3 that are on the bubble as of today. The only remaining teams I really have big question marks about are the Chargers, Jets and Colts (no way the Jets are for real). Lets assume these teams dont recover this year but the Jets make it close because of their current 5 wins. That leaves the Bengals or Ravens fighting for that last spot against the Dolphins and Jets as I project things today. If this plays out I like our chances at 10-7 because we hold tie-breakers over the Dolphins and Jets in head to head matchups.
All subject to change of course.

The Colts are a joke. They just named another new starting QB. The Titans will win that division hands down.
The Jets may be for real but they just lost their starting RB for the season with a torn ACL. They did trade for another no-name back but it remains to be seen how this loss effects their team.
And of course I wouldn't be me if I didn't remind everyone we wouldn't be having this discussion if we hadn't shit the bed against the Steelers and Cowboys in weeks one and two....

Red Rifle officially named starter this week against the Raiders. I'm always happy for Andy to succeed. He drew some short straws in Dallas and Chicago, and didnt deserve his outcome in Cincy. He's a stand-up guy, but only a mid-tier QB. Hope he makes the most of it because Winston will be crying like a little bitch if he doesnt get his role back.

The only game I question your pick is against Bye. Not sure they will be able to pull off the win.

I agree we should probably end up around 12-5 or within a game, however I wouldn't be surprise if we beat KC or Buffalo. Both those games are at home, and I could see us slip up with a team we shouldn't like TB, or NE, maybe even Tenn.
