Cody Ford re-upped on a 2-year deal. I truly hope that the front office understands the importance of getting Chase signed first, and soon. Then Higgins, then Hendrickson. They simply cannot drag these negotiations past the draft again unless they intend to use Higgins as trade bait in the draft. I honestly have to assume they will. They could easily trade up for a top WR and get a rookie deal that lets the sign Chase and Hendrickson with no trouble. But.....I have seen several analysts say over the last few days the Bengals have plenty of space available to sign all three to top deals. Such a head scratcher.

Can you imagine how easy this decision would be if Burton panned out like we hoped he would? What a kick in the nuts that was/is.

The big problem is that they don't just need to sign own players. They need to sign 4 starters on defense and they don't have cap space for that.

BTW Hendrickson is not going to get a contract extension from the Bengals so put that out of your mind. They are not going to give big money to a 32-year-old DL. I am fine with that. Reminder he is older than Hubbard that just retired. Do you think Trey has another 4 good years left in him. NFL history says no. He very likely was the best FA signing in Bengals history so enjoy one more year of him and avoid the cap hole he likely would put the team in with a big contract extension.

Bengals re-signed DT B.J. Hill to a three-year, $33 million contract.

$16 million of this is guaranteed per Adam Schefter. Hill has played for the Bengals the last four years and been a relatively stable piece inside, notching PFF defensive grades between 67.7 and 70.9 over his tenure in Cincinnati. He has 21 sacks in four seasons with the Bengals. Entering his age-30 season, Hill hasn’t lost a step yet. The Bengals will hope he can hold up for (likely) at least the next two years inside.

Perine is back! Not sure I care that much about it. But 2 yrs $3.8MM is the number. Solves the need for a back up. Now we can draft the rest of the RB room.

Bengals snag Packers Nose Tackle TJ Slayton. Rated #1 win rate run stopper in 2024 per ESPN. I like it!

As for the JaMarr signing, folks need to understand it takes 2 sides. I was listening to 700 today and they had a Bengals insider on there, he stated that the Bengals were already at Miles Garret money and above. Chase is slow rolling the signing to make sure another big signing doesn't happen to improve his numbers. It's hard to sit here and blame him for doing that either.

100%. I heard the same. And honestly the Bengals FAFO. They could have had this done last year and be locked in at a far lower number.

This stupid mistake is going to cost them 15 million a year!
