And as if on cue... 8-)

Adam Schefter @AdamSchefter
Free-agent OT Trent Brown is scheduled to travel tonight to Cincinnati to meet Tuesday with the Bengals, who lost OT Jonah Williams in free agency to the Cardinals.

Looks like Zac had a presser yesterday (didnt see it, just watching a few recaps about it) where he stated that Higgins is agreeable to playing under the tag this year and will not be playing elsewhere. If that is true, fantastic, and I'll eat my crow at the Ponderosa in front of Meat as he downs his ribeye. But for now, I still call bullshit. This is the NFL, its a business where players at this level make decisions aboit their careers that can impact tens of millions of dollars in future earnings. Shit doesnt happen just because Zac goes to a microphone and says it. So until I hear it straight from Higgins that he is on board, I'm not sold. This is all posturing at this point.

Edit - rumors are he might be willing to drop his guaranteed % which could help the Bengals get him into an extension. We'll see.

Reading 1 yr. Means they are still planning on taking a RT in this draft and early, which is good.

Ian Rapoport @RapSheet
The #Bengals are adding a key piece on their O-Line, as #Patriots free agent OT Trent Brown plans to sign a 1-year with them, source said. He’s in Cincy on a visit today.

A new home protecting Joe Burrow for Brown.

Paul Dehner Jr. @pauldehnerjr
Added benefit of Trent Brown is his proven versatility at both left and right tackle.

Especially if they go OT at 18, if anything happened to Orlando Brown at LT, they could easily shift Trent Brown over and not risk catastrophic falloff.

Exactly what I was hoping for. A 1 or 2 year deal with Brown and then draft somebody that we can hopefully look at for the future. I don't love our ability to draft and develop O-Linemen, but I feel a lot better about giving it a shot with Brown signed.

Now let's get a Nose Tackle!

Takes the pressure off as long as he stays healthy. But we really need to nail this in the draft. We cannot keep turning this line over every year. Next year we will be dealing with Karras and Cappa again (I think). We need to have a couple of years of very solid OL draft picks to right this ship.

Not complaining, this is a great move for 2024, just keeping it real that the can has been kicked.

Yeah I really thinkthe first 2 and if not 3 picks in this draft are going O and Dline. Gotta be!

OT
Fashanu if he falls
Mims
Latham

NT
Sweat
Jackson

Possibly 5 players within the first 2 rounds we have targeted. Other Olinemen as well, those are just off the top of my head.
I was crazy back when being crazy really meant something.
