Re: NFL News & Notes
Here's Ben's new deal per PFT....
According to multiple reports, Roethlisberger’s compensation for the season has gone from $19 million to $14 million and the Steelers have picked up $15 million in cap room for the coming year. Roethlisberger was set to count $41.25 million against the cap before altering his deal.
NFL Media reports that Roethlisberger will make a league minimum salary of $1.075 million with the rest of his compensation coming as a signing bonus. They also added voidable years onto the contract in order to spread the cap hit out into future seasons.
Whether Roethlisberger will be around as anything other than dead money on the salary cap for those years remains to be seen, but Thursday’s developments ensure that he’ll spend his 18th season in Pittsburgh.

Hearing Giants trying to move G Kevin Zeitler and Jags trying to move G Andrew Norwell but not likely, given their salary. Other teams anticipate them being released, when they would generate significant interest.

We’re gonna luck out and get some pretty decent OL talent on the cheap this year

In some game in the first few weeks of the season we're going to see Ben get his leg snapped. He's just too damn big and bulky to move like he needs to. Trying to keep that fire burning one last year is going to cost him. He was taking some major hits last year. Its only going to get worse.

Could probably get Norwell and Zeitler for the price of one Thuney. I'll take that.
Re: NFL News & Notes
That's no doubt true but then it begs the question do you just want to have a little better O-line than last year or a really great one...?
Picture a line with Thuney at Guard and Penile Swallow at Tackle.
Re: NFL News & Notes
Honestly, I'm good with either scenario, but I think I'd prefer Thuney.

What's the quote that's used so often in politics nowadays....."Never let a crises go to waste"...?Jmble wrote: ↑Fri Mar 05, 2021 10:19 amHonestly, I'm good with either scenario, but I think I'd prefer Thuney.
That sort of sums up my feelings on our current O-line situation. We have a brand new franchise quarterback and for once, the entire organization seems to be on the same page regarding the need to strengthen the O-line. This type of singular momentum to improve one particular part of the team might not come again for decades.
I say strike while the iron is hot and get the very best players possible.....NOW!! Let's not settle for just "better than we have" lets get the kind of once in a generation talent that can actually get us to a Super Bowl, not just 10 wins.
