Re: Bengals Related News & Notes
i cant believe what im reading.
they are placing the best-performing players on the field and you want them to put someone who doesnt produce as much back on the field becuase of his tenure?
while we're at it, lets bench boyd and start Green too.
ridiculous.

I think what Zoo's saying is that Dunlap's going to be playing a certain percentage of snaps even if he's not "the starter." And even if that percentage is lower than Carl Lawson's snaps, he could still be "the starter," and there could be less drama around the whole thing.orange_black wrote: ↑Fri Oct 09, 2020 9:57 ami cant believe what im reading.

I can see it both ways--if Lawson's the best guy, then he probably deserves the honor of being the starter. But the real point here is that this was handled poorly. Coaching isn't just X's and O's, it's a people-centered business. Well, for most coach. Belicheat can apparently be a soulless robot and get pretty good results. But in general, a big part of the skill-set is motivating guys and balancing egos and getting the best out of your people.
That said, none of us are in the locker room. Clearly, Dunlap is upset about this. How's this landing with the rest of the team? Are they pissed because they feel like he was done wrong? Do they feel like Carl's getting his due? Beats me, but it's something to watch.

I'm saying clearly this was a surprise to Dunlap. And that's the problem. If you arent communicating with your locker room leaders, who are you communicating with? Dunlap should have the starter designation removed, he's being outplayed. But a simple conversation with Zac could have prevented all of this. Zac's not wrong, its just a really bad look for a young squad.

the real answer is if Dunlap wants to be the starter, maybe he should work a little harder and outplay the other guys. thats what a starter does.... outplay the other guys.
if he wants his respect for being a bengal for so long, he should be a "captain" not a "starter"

If someone is out performing him then bench him, it's that simple. Moving on to a more logical debate!

Sorry, you hit on a subject far more worthy than Bengals talk. That's an all-time debate question.
