Okay, now this one really is behind a paywall. But I guess the headline is pretty clear about the gist of this one.Bengals1 wrote: ↑Tue Jun 16, 2020 12:29 pmFrom today's WSJ. Data screams it's time to reopen...

I can't see it either. Did you link to the articles from Twitter or something like that? Some sites allow a certain number of free reads as long as you are linking to it from one of their reporters' Tweets or official link.

Well, in more Covid-19 news, 23 Clemson players just tested positive. A couple more NFL players and multiple coaches as well.

I'm still on the side of "they will try to play." There's too much money at stake. But I wouldn't be surprised to see a lot of starts and stops.
It 100% will continue to hit locker rooms as long as players and staff keep congregating.

It's those stops and starts that will cost more money and make it impossible to find equitable solutions that are fair for all teams. You can't quarantine a team for 2 weeks and then find an easy way to reschedule those games. The only saving grace is you likely won't have fans to worry about as far as ticket sales and refunds.
I doubt the NBA will play at all. MLB has no more than 10 days to decide. College sports is about to go belly up in the next 2 weeks and the NFL won't be far behind. The only sports that make any sense to play are individual sports. And Nascar only works because the pit crew is such a small group and they have protective gear on.

Well MLB just nearly imploded and may yet do so. The unGodly sense of entitlement with these athletes is just over the top ridiculous. The salaries have increased to simply unrealistic levels and yet when the time get tough they take their ball and go home. Pro team sports may never be the same after this. Marginal franchises will need bailouts before next year. And the downstream revenue hits will collapse the infrastructure from stadiums to vendors to parking decks.
Grab your popcorn, you are about to witness history in the sports world.
Oh, and we haven't even begun to talk about the bankruptcy coming with colleges that are heavily dependent on sports revenue (football). That will be the story of the fall.
