According to Paul Dehner former Bengals head coach Sam Wyche has passed away at the age of 74.

Sad. Always been a fan. I haven't been to many iconic games in sports history, but I was at the game against the Seahawks when he got on the Mic and said "You don't live in Cleveland"....

Maybe people can recognize him in death as the true innovator of the no huddle offense. Not that bastard Marv Levy who complained to the NFL about it during the run up to our second Super Bowl appearance.

Just popped up on my phone. Damn! They don't make coaches like that anymore. If Mikey got along better with him and agreed to give him more control, this team would be a lot different. Sam was the TB coach when Sapp and Lynch (and I think Brooks) were drafted.

Sam always loved the Bengals. Sad for the family, his and ours.

He was easily my favorite Bengals coach of all time. His hatred for the old Houston Oilers, especially their head coach Jerry Glanville was legendary.

In one memorable game the Bengals were up 45-0 and Wyche called for an onside kick.

A quote from Sam after that game...

“We don’t like this team. We don’t like their people. When you get a chance to do it (run up the score), you do it. I wish today this was a five-quarter game.”

Can you imagine some coach saying that today!?!

RIP good Sir, you will be greatly missed.
