Around the league, Covid is rearing its ugly head again. And with the drastically reduced calls for masks and quarantines the impact of Covid this year (in locker rooms of every sport) may end up having a worse impact than 2021.

Just something to keep an eye on as we head into Wk 1.
Why can't we just be over covid at this point.

I definitely am. And for most folks that have the means to maintain a safe distance, or work from home, etc, I dont think there will be issues. But for athletes, school kids, production environments, etc, I bet we will see a surge in cases again as we head into fall. Whatever Covid is, not attempting to debate anything at this point, it is mimicing the common cold/flu more and more every day. I know a ton of people that just had it. But no one that required any medical care for it.

Cincinnati Bengals @Bengals
We have signed free agent G Nathan Gilliam and waived LB Carson Wells. Nathan Gilliam, a UDFA in 2020, has spent time on the practice squads with the Chargers and Steelers over the last two years. He could immediately get a chance as a second-team guard.

Another year a rookie counted on to contribute out of the gate won't....

Kelsey Conway @KelseyLConway
#Bengals rookie Cam Taylor-Britt had surgery on his core.

Paul Dehner Jr. @pauldehnerjr
Updates on #Bengals injures/playing time, all via Zac Taylor:

CB Cam Taylor-Britt (core): Had surgery Monday. Out at least the rest of camp.

OT Isaiah Prince (bicep): Week to week.

TE Drew Sample (knee): Week to week, not back anytime soon.

LB Markus Bailey (hamstring): Out Sunday, prob back soon after.

DE Joseph Ossai: Play some on special teams Sunday, but managing him in games. See most of his work in Rams practices.

RT La'el Collins (back): Returned to 11s today, tracking to go full in Rams practices next week.

OT D'Ante Smith (back): Came back this week, "optimistic" he'll play Sunday.

OL Trey Hill: "Earned" more reps in LG battle. Get those Sunday.

DE Khalid Kareem (shoulder): Should make preseason debut.

How in the world is Ossai not 100% ready?? And why cant we just take the money from Trey Hill and Drew Sample and give it to Bates?? Enough already.

Dan Hoard @Dan_Hoard
5 observations from Day 16 of #Bengals camp:

1. La’el Collins took part in 11-on-11 drills for the 1st time — albeit without full pads.
“First day to kind of get out there with my teammates, communicate, and move around and assimilate real speed,” said Collins. “That felt good."

2. Despite good coverage, this pass to Hayden Hurst was complete.
“Hayden’s got a really good catch radius,” said Zac Taylor. “He’s got good burst. He’s got a really good understanding and feel for some of these concepts in the red zone. I think he’s a really good weapon for us.”

3. After the defense had 4 INTs yesterday, there were none today.
Rookie Tycen Anderson came closest but let this pass slip through his hands in the end zone. He punished himself by doing push-ups on the sideline.

4. Kendric Pryor had 2 red zone TD catches, including one on a route that was similar to this drill.
In one NFL Draft guide, Pryor’s 40 time is listed at 4.53. He’s not sure why. Kendric says he consistently broke 4.4 at Wisconsin with a personal best of 4.32

5. With Isaiah Prince out week-to-week (bicep) and Jackass Cartman out due to Covid, the team signed G/C Nate Gilliam.
He was just cut by the Steelers and expects to play this Sunday.
"I'm excited," he said. "I’ve worked very hard in the preseason and I am ready to showcase it.”

Kelsey Conway @KelseyLConway
Breaking news: #Bengals safety Jessie Bates, after not reporting for training camp at the start due to failed contract negotiations, is back in the team building, a source tells me

This comes a day before the team starts practices against the Rams.

I guess it's close enough to the start of the season to start coming back here after the offseason break.

I have to say that I love the potential of Bates/Bell/Hill out there making plays together. I knew Bates would be back before he started losing paychecks.
