Bengals move up in the fifth round in trade with Bears to pick 166. Give up their fifth and seventh.

Take Toledo S Tycen Anderson.
Another Safety?

Are they just looking for Special teams guys right now?

Andersons a good player. Big. 4.38 40. Team captain. Had offers from Kentucky and others. Will play around the box type safety. Not a bad pick at all.

Strengths:

Great length with long arms for the safety position. Great to elite top end speed. More comfortable playing downhill. Easily picks up skill talent out of the backfield and covers them downfield with ease.

Weaknesses:

Limited ball production related to playing the ball downfield. Known to take bad angles to the football and that leads to missed tackles in space.

Accolades:

2020: Second-team All-MAC
4.36-second 40-yard dash T-second among safeties at combine

Picking where they are they're weren't ever going to get big, flashy players in any round. Plus you could argue this draft was bereft of those types anyway.

You have to grade them on a curve this year I think. They're obviously going for solid, workman type role players who can spell the starters this year and possibly.....possibly move into starting positions next year or beyond.

I'd still like that punter out of SDSU and a TE.

Well Huber's not on the team anymore. And maybe we feel like we're going to score every possession. Therefore not really needing a punter.

I don't know how you guys feel but I'd much rather have had that punter out of San Diego State than a Safety out of a MAC school....😒

Jeffrey Gunter. OLB 6'4 258

Gunter followed up an 8-sack season in '20 with 6 more in '21. He ran a 4.7 40 at the combine and showed off a vertical of 35.5 inches, and those physical attributes translated to the field. He's a high-motor player who has the athleticism to avoid running back cut blocks and get to the quarterback. He also has the power to bull rush offensive tackles off their feet altogether and collapse the pocket. He will consistently disengage from blocks, can get lateral and then run down a quarterback either rolling out or scrambling. In the run game, he'll set the edge with purpose.

Weaknesses:

He can look stiff at times when rushing the passer, and while he shows twitchiness, he's not particularly bendy. He doesn't yet have much variety in his pass-rush arsenal, and he'll occasionally get run out of the play vs. run.

Accolades:

2020: All-Sun Belt first Team
2020: Led FBS with six forced fumbles
