Bell is closer to 30 and we don't resign those guys... I'm putting more stock in Bates only being 24.

I firmly believe we have to resign Bates. Let Bell walk after this year. Bates and Hill next year would be a kick ass combo!
I was crazy back when being crazy really meant something.

Duke and Zac are very, very happy at the presser.

Sounds a bit like the buzz around Ricky Dixon back in the day.
I hope the outcome is different. Although not heard he will be CB full time though so should be good

Was talking to Trey Smith. He had really high praise for Adeniji. Been working out together all spring. Believes he will be good.

Everything you hear and read sounds much more like Von Bells role. Playing close the line, blitzing, covering TEs, some safety but also some slot. This is a great pick with the evolution of the NFL 7v7
Given Bells age and contract status, feels more like a plug into his role next year

They could also come up with a completely different position for him. They already use some 3 safety packages. Perhaps they expand that and in theory keep both Bell and Bates. Of course, if they can't keep both, than Dax will be the contingency for whomever they can't keep. I think he is versatile enough to be in either role.skycruiser wrote: ↑Fri Apr 29, 2022 7:11 amEverything you hear and read sounds much more like Von Bells role. Re: Official 2022 NFL Draft Thread
I just don't think they're going to be able to afford Bates. I think they'll allow him to pursue FA to see what the market is for him and he'll eventually sign with another team for a HUGE amount. I can see this coming a mile way. And they may not even resign Bell. Who knows. They could very well take another Safety and allow both to walk after this season. But I truly hope we ink Bates long term.

Everyone that's spent more then five minutes around the Bengals can see it coming.Joe Bananas wrote: ↑Fri Apr 29, 2022 10:24 amI just don't think they're going to be able to afford Bates.
