LT: Whit, Munoz
WOOOH there! Whit was good but he's not Munoz! Munoz is literally regarded as the best LT to ever play the game!
Ah yes, the old generational argument rears its head. One might say Whit played against guys that were 15-25% larger than lineman in Munoz's time. (just to toss out a point that is always made)

It's the Bird/Jordan vs Lebron conversation. Comparisons are almost impossible to make. I could argue that Munoz was better because of the type of offense the Bengals ran. (another hypothetical) These comparisons are fun to make and discuss, but they really can't ever be resolved because you can't ever make an apples to apples assessment. Stoolers of the 70's vs Stoolers in the Big Ben Superbowl era? Impossible.......
On one hand your talking about the "The Greatest LT of all time" and that's not argued by many people around the league, that's Munoz's actual label. Sure Whit was a good player for a long time but he's not in the conversation of being a "GOAT" at LT.

This list is with the caveat that if you take each player in their prime and put them on the field today (with no hypothetical adjustments), who would be best. I'm not taking anything away from his greatness, but in his prime, Munoz was 275 lbs. He would not be competitive today at that weight. With a modern regimen and diet could Munoz hold more weight? Maybe, but we don't know. Willie was in his prime 20 years ago, yet if you put his size and athleticism on the field today, he'd still be the prototype for the position and would dominate.

Sorry, Mag. Context has to matter here. Munoz is the greatest, and I love Whit. Who would you argue to be a greater army, Poland circa 1939 or the Macedonians under Alexander thr Great? Because obviously one is regarded as one of the greatest and most successful armies in history, but would still be obliterated against the army that was rolled over in weeks. So players are bigger now. But context matters.

Sadly you just can't do that. I understand what your saying but I have heard no where that Whit has ever been in the conversation of GOAT at LT. Munoz is, and you can't take size now and compare to size then that's just not fair. Scoop is right in his post above, also you can't take a guy who literally just beat us for a SB ring, over our first ballet Ring of Honor member, that's just firetrucked up.

Ah yes and as you so eloquently put to someone else on an O-line thread... You'd be wrong!

With your logic we'd only really be counting todays players because of how the game has evolved. Take a minute and think with the diets and specialists we have today, don't you think Munoz if playing today would still be 275? No he would have beefed up been stronger and been just as dominate. I'm sorry but you just can't take Cinci's HOF ambassador and put him behind anyone at that position period.

I'm sorry but my stubbornness really came out on this one... I'll go and put it away now...
