I'm on the opposite side of the fence on this issue, I like Chase over Sewell. I think we need to address RT in FA instead of trying to develop a guy since we haven't had much luck doing that in a while.
If we sign a young, first class Free Agent to play RT then Swallow would be redundant. But if we just sign some journeyman to fill the position as a hedge against Penile not being there and then it turns out he is you take him and fill the position for a decade or more.
That's you're opinion, however I'm not as high on Sewell as I am on Chase. I know I don't hold the popular opinion but Sewell doesn't have a lot of experience, and our track record isn't great as of late developing guys.

If they don't take Penile in the first round then the pick need to be a DE. Outside of terrible OL play then next biggest problem was not being able to pressure the other team QB.

Is there a DE that's worth the #5 pick? It seems like a draft that's deep at edge rusher but not with a high-end guy. Round 2 should have some really good options to rush the passer.

You don't pass on another Anthony Munoz who will be your lock down tackle for the next 10-12 years barring injury.....period.
Agree! I love Chase, but not over Sewell. If Sewell is there you take him. If not then I wouldn't mind drafting Chase.

Sewell has the highest grade ever for a power 5 OT prospect-ever! 6'6 330, 20 years old. I just don't see how you pass this kid up.

I can see your point meat. If we sign a starter for tackle and maybe an interior oline man I wouldn't be disappointed in taken chase.
I was crazy back when being crazy really meant something.

if there was a DL worth taking at 5, or heck in the top 15 for that matter, this would be a mute point. i think they have to tag lawson and depending on addressing G and T in FA they'd be free to take Chase

Then trade down. DL is a very close second to OL in needs and LB/CB isn't very far behind. This D was terrible last year and two best players are FA. 1st 5 rounds need to D or OL.

So was David Boston then he got to the NFL which tested for 'roids and couldn't stay healthy. When he quite playing at LSU last year all his drug testing also ended.

There's no evidence of Chase using 'roids and using this as an excuse to not draft him would be a very intellectually dishonest comparison...

However knowing our bloody nose type division I would advocate for having a guy built like Chase over Smith.
