With the 9th pick in the 2017 NFL draft...

Postby Benzoo » January 2nd, 2017, 4:09 pm

The Cincinnati Bengals select...
I know some of you have been drooling over this since September. So who looks good at9?
Foster from Bama could be an option. I'm warming to the idea of Barnett from Tennessee. Or do they stick to the BPA and go after someone like Dalvin Cook ? I know still a lot time.

Derek Barnett DE from Tennessee 6' 3" 265 is the player most Moch Draft's have us targeting at #9. I have no problem with that as DE and LB are our two biggest needs. Billings and Hardison aren't both going to get re-injured in 2017 so I think DT can wait.

Get the best DE or LB with our first pick and then target whichever position you didn't get in the second. Then go for O-line and WR depth in the third.... 8-)

I don't think we need to address WR in the draft. We'll have Green, Lafell, Boyd, Core, Erickson and Wright.
One intriguing name at LB is Tim Williams. He's really good at getting into the offensive backfield and disrupting plays. He's also had off field issues.

We must have Oline help but I would prefer a trade for a top notch veteran, especially center, vs solving this via the draft.

I'm hoping Jonathan Allen gets caught with weed, or something, and falls. Could be a DE that slides inside on passing downs.

I'd be happy with Barnett from Tennessee. Hooker, from OSU, declared. Could be a fast riser in the draft that could make the top ten.

I think we can land Foster in round two. I don't see him putting up the speed numbers to be a true first rounder.

LaFell was a one year deal. I agree I wouldn't worry about WR either, but if we can't resign LaFell, I'd like to see a veteran free agent pick up.

We desperately need one of the top 2 DE's. If we can't land one of them, i'd be okay with one of the top 2 WR's

Barnett gets a hell of a write up in a site I went to. Hunt is gone. Gilberry is gone. Dunlap is a stud and MJ is serviceable. I imagine we keep Clark. I like what I saw from him in his limited snaps. We definitely need to add some pass rush. Barnett can cover the pass as well as the run. Plus, he's heavier than some of the other top DEs which I like. That fits our system. I'd go linebacker with our second and third picks. We need to load up there.

If Foster fell, I'd have to consider him but I'd take BPA at a position of need (which we have many).
