Cowboys say there have been no discussions about trading Felix Jones

On Tuesday, Calvin Watkins of ESPNDallas.com identified running back Felix Jones as a player who could be in danger of being cut based on what happens in the draft. Watkins also reported that the team has had internal discussions about trading Jones.

Another Jones who is in slightly better position to speak on those matters tells ESPNDallas.com that there there have been no talks about trading the 2008 first-round pick.

“No discussions — or speculation — on the possibility of a trade involving Felix Jones have ever taken place among individuals in this organization who would have the authority to explore such a scenario,” Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones told ESPNDallas.com. “Any reports of apparent internal discussions along those lines would involve people who have no input or relevance in the process.”

It makes sense to keep Felix Jones around. Though DeMarco Murray looked great when healthy, Murray didn’t stay healthy for long.

Of course, we rarely take anything anyone connected to any team says at face value. But in this case it really doesn’t seem to make sense for the Cowboys to trade Felix Jones.
