According to Adam Caplan, Okoye agreed to a one-year deal with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, ending the Bengals "effort" to inject a pass-rushing defensive tackle into their rotation. Okoye was originally scheduled to visit with the Bengals last week, but a scheduling conflict forced the team to reschedule, which was expected to take place either this Sunday or Monday.

The deal is worth $2 million according to the Tampa Bay Tribune, of which $700,000 is guaranteed.

As for the Bengals it's not a blow by any means. With a rotation comprised of Domata Peko, Geno Atkins and Pat Sims, the team is fairly strong at the position, though a player like Okoye would have impacted the overall depth, especially replacing someone like Jonathan Fanene -- an inside pass rusher in passing situations. Nick Hayden, signed onto the 53-man roster after Sims' season-ending injury last year, gives the squad four defensive tackles signed through the 2012 season.

I am disappointed we missed on this guy, however, it doesn't seem ANYONE really placed too much value on him. That contract is low. The Bears let him walk and we waited to sign him knowing very well he could get away. Though I am not, we seem to be higher on the guys we have. Since I am not employed by the NFL, I have to give way to their expertise.
