Nobody did....

Mike Renner @PFF_Mike
Jack Carman being an *upgrade* at LT is not something I saw coming.
I thought he'd be better in the run game, however he was pretty solid in pass pro too.
i cant rememeber where i heard it.... but SOMEBODY was talking about how Jonah has not played up to his draft pick status... and that CArman was also a high pick for us.... so the Jonah injury might be a blesssing in disguise....

just wish i coudl rememember who i heard it from.... to give them some props
Well personally without a doubt you can see that he's more powerful in the run game for sure. He's still got a lot of work to do with his hand placement, hence all the holding calls he got during the pre-season. However the one thing I didn't expect is his athleticism on his pass sets. Go back and rewatch the game if you can he does a really good job of getting width and depth on his sets. His larger frame is also better in bull rush situations, on the edge. Now he wasn't going up against any world beaters like Bosa or Watt, but he did quite well I thought. He passed off twists pretty well, if I remember correctly, the 1st TD he handled a twist flawlessly with Volson allowing Burrow to step up for that crazy jump pass, it may have been the deep out to Boyd, I just can't remember for sure. Either way he had a very quality game.

Meat; how much do you credit his playing at his natural position of Tackle for his improvement? If I'm not mistaken, wasn't he a RT in college...?

Well in my experience it's easier to play Guard then Tackle since you don't need to be as athletic. It seems though that he prefers space, he really needs to work on his hand placement big time but his punch is really powerful. On a few instances I saw him stone a guy with a one hand punch, and others turn his hips and throw a guy past on a run play very violently. There's talent there to work with for sure the big question is whether he can take the teaching.

Lap regularly states that Carman has the best feet on the O line he just needed to mature and find his groove and listen to Frank and the vets. Let’s see what he does.

The wayward son has returned. And while we all welcome you with open arms, you're about to find out that your only brother has knocked up your former girlfriend, your dad has been thrown in jail for selling moonshine and the young girl you once played with is now all grown up and she's smoking hot. Alot has happened Ryno. Brace yourself.
