Is anyone else interested in what the Cavs are doing? Last year I thought they would be better off by trading for Amare Stoudamire. This year the chances are even better this might happen. The deal will cost them Big Z who has been consummate teammate. Last year in the playoffs, however, he looked old and slow. I think adding a score like Stoudamire would ease some pressure off of James. Defenses could not longer concentrate on James without worrying about someone else going off. The move for Shaq gave them the size they needed for the playoffs. But Shaq can't score like he used to. He's been giving the Cavs some points early but late in the game it's been all James.
Another option would be a trade for Antwon Jamison. I remember Jamison at UNC but don't know much about his NBA career. Probably because he's been in Toronto and Washington. Some say Jamison is the better fit. He may be the better teammate but I doubt he compares to Stoudamire's talent.
There are some other potential trades, Cory Magette (former Bearcat) or Murphey (????) from the Pacers. All these seem to be pending on one thing, the Stoudamire trade. James has said he wants Amare so the team is going after him. The hope is that if you get James Amare, and maybe a championship to go with him, James would consider staying to defend the title. Right now everything is about making the King happy.
Competitors in these trades seems to be some of Cleveland's playoff competition, mainly Miami. I think Miami is trying to do what they can to retain Wade. According to the experts, the Cavs have the best offer with their expiring contracts. Its funny how in the NBA how you have more to trade with when your players suck and have big contracts that are at their end. In the NFL, that's a nightmare scenario. Maybe the NFL could look to the NBA for its CBA?
The trade deadline is this Thursday. I can't wait to see what happens.
